New dashboard
1.1 Ops dashboard: Operational insights and benchmarks We are excited to announce the launch of our new Ops Dashboard in this quarter’s update. This tool provides deeper insights into operational performance, allowing you to track and benchmark key metrics such as: – Fleet utilization (bar charts) – Turn times (actual vs. scheduled) – On-time performance (on and off block) – Fuel consumption and emissions – Additional fleet and flight data for precise benchmarking Please note that this data is only available from Q3 2024 onwards. We look forward to your feedback! |
Model updates
2.1 Fuel Consumption model: Actual load factors included We’ve made significant improvements to our fuel consumption model this quarter by incorporating actual passenger load factors instead of the standard 85%. This change allows us to calculate the take-off weight of each flight more accurately. The updated take-off weight, based on actual load factors (*100 KG/PAX), directly impacts fuel consumption, providing a more precise calculation for each flight. This enhancement leads to better fuel efficiency insights. |
2.2 Crew model: Higher precision in FTE, salary data; dedicated crew complements We’ve introduced significant enhancements to our crew model, making it more accurate and reflective of real-world operations. Here’s what’s new: a) Crew complements We’ve made key improvements to crew count accuracy. The new model applies through the following way: Flight crew is calculated based on two main factors: – Flight duration – The region of the airline’s headquarters Cabin crew is determined by: – The number of seats and/or eseats on the flight – The level of premium service offeredThese adjustments ensure more precise crew modeling across different airline configurations. b) Crew cost model now modeled by operating carrier We now calculate crew costs by distinguishing between the marketing and operating carriers, leading to a more precise allocation of crew costs. c) Seniority level Our model now factors in pilot seniority across different aircraft types (Widebody, Narrowbody, Regional Aircraft). This seniority differentiation ensures that costs reflect the varying experience levels of crew members across different fleet types. |
Data updates
3.1 Flight number level data available within Tableau Some customers requested flight number level data to be visible in our dashboards. We are happy to follow up on this. You can now select flight numbers (or flight number ranges) in the top right corner of relevant dashboards. |
3.2 Additional Airlines added We are pleased to announce the inclusion of several carriers across Africa, Europe, and Oceania. a) Africa Air Algérie AirCairo EgyptAir Royal Air Maroc Tunisair b) Europe Smartwings c) Oceania Fiji Airways |
3.3 Updated Q2 financials and added Q3 forecast As you are already acquainted with by now, we have also validated our Q2’24 forecast with reported actual financials (where available). Furthermore, we have added Q3’24 supply data including our latest outside-in forecasts. |
